News: NHS Cumbria and Strata Health shortlisted for National Award
15 September, 2015 – London, United Kingdom
Strata PathWaysTM, an innovative solution integrating the patient journey across Cumbria health and social care has been shortlisted for a national award.
Strata’s ‘Resource Matching and e Referral system’ has been named as one of the best in the UK in the Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards 2015; being shortlisted in the ‘Using Technology to Improve Efficiency’ category.
Used across the entire health, social care and volunteer/3rd sector, it enables patient transfers of care in a much more efficient and innovative way.
“The project not only addresses NHS Cumbria’s ‘Digital Roadmap’ to become paperless well ahead of the timescales set by NHS England, but also achieves an automated workflow across all patient transitions that delivers savings, efficiencies and better, safer care for patients across the patch”, commented Strata’s MD Clint Schick.
Sedbergh GP Dr William Lumb, Chief Clinical Information Officer at NHS Cumbria CCG, said: “It is in an air traffic control system for patients. This software has turned the process of discharging a patient from an argument about the referral, to a discussion about the patient.
“It’s also cut the time nursing staff can make a child safeguarding referral from around two hours to 15 minutes.”
“Achieving a nomination in this prestigious award process is a pleasing recognition of the hard work and vision of the health economy in Cumbria.”
Used primarily by nursing staff in hospitals and in the community it has been well received in south Cumbria and is being rolled out in the north of the county. GPs will be added to the scheme shortly and third sectoris currently live across several care streams.
There were more than 1600 entries in this year’s HSJ Awards. The team will now present more detail to the judges on October 12th before the winners are announced at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on November 18th.
About NHS Cumbria CCG:
NHS services are designed and delivered around the needs of local people.
In Cumbria, for a number of years, GPs have been involved in planning how and where health services should be delivered for communities. Now GPs are taking on a more formal role. Family doctors – not NHS managers – will be responsible in the future for ‘commissioning’ Cumbria’s health services.
‘Commissioning’ means planning and purchasing NHS services for local people from hospital trusts and other organisations.
